2019 policy changed to fast-track SPPS hiring
Ministry of Information said that present government made changes in Special Professional Pay Scale (SPPS) Policy
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information in a clarification on Thursday said that the present government has made changes in Special Professional Pay Scale (SPPS) Policy with the aim that the ministries and divisions should fast track hiring talented professionals.
To meet that end the Prime Minister decided to devolve his some of authority to the ministries and divisions concerned.
The impression given the newspaper that PM powers to make appointments withdrawn by the Cabinet is therefore absolutely erroneous and misplaced.
It says the SPPS Policy was introduced in 2019 by the then government for hiring of highly skilled/technical professionals on need basis for filling the capacity gaps in the ministries/divisions.
“The said policy was not being effectively utilized as it was highly centralized and difficult to implement,” the statement said, adding the present government made changes in it to fast-track hiring of professionals.
