Karachi: Woman shoots husband dead for ‘mistreating her’
The woman killed her husband near the Khajji Ground in Golimar within the limits of the Rizvia police station.
A woman shot her second husband dead on Sunday for mistreating her and not allowing her to meet her minor son from her first husband in the Golimar area. Meanwhile, three persons were stabbed and axed to death in Landhi, Gulberg and Korangi areas on Sunday.
The woman killed her husband near the Khajji Ground in Golimar within the limits of the Rizvia police station. Upon receiving the information, police and rescue workers reached the scene and transported the casualty to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased man was identified as 45-year-old Ziaullah, son of Ataullah, resident of New Karachi.
Police arrested the suspect, Maham, and also seized the pistol used in the incident. According to police, it was the second marriage of both Maham and Ziaullah that a solemnised a month ago.
The deceased man worked in the construction sector. Maham contracted the second marriage after divorce from her husband with whom she had a three-year-old son. The suspect reportedly told police during the initial interrogation that Ziaullah used to manhandle her and was reluctant to allow her to meet her son.
Upon her insistence, he agreed to let her meet her son and took her on a motorcycle to the Golimar area where the minor lived. Maham said she took a pistol with her. When they were at some distance from her first husband's house, Ziaullah received a call on his mobile phone and stopped the motorcycle in an alley to talk. At that moment, she took out the pistol from her purse and shot him.
Police said the deceased had bullet wounds in his chest and hands and they had found three bullet casings of a .30 bore pistol from the scene. The police have arrested the woman and also called her first husband for questioning. A case has been registered.
Separately, one person was killed in a stabbing incident at a house near Landhi’s Firdous Market. Following the incident, police and rescue workers reached the property and transported the casualty to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy where the deceased was identified as 50-year-old Ali Gul, son of Sacchal.
Police said the killing took place on the night between Saturday and Sunday over mysterious reasons. The deceased man had two wives. Further investigations are under way. In a similar incident, a man was stabbed to death in District Central of Karachi. Police said the incident took place in the Moosa Colony area in Federal B Area within the limits of the Gulberg police station. The victim was identified as 40-year-old Riaz, son of Izhar. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
According to police, the man was stabbed by his elder brother during a clash at their house. Police have arrested the suspect and also seized the knife used in the incident. Meanwhile, a man was axed to death in Korangi’s Chakra Goth area. The victim was identified as Zahoor Ahmed.
A case was registered at the Zaman Town police station on the complaint of the deceased person’s brother. The complainant stated that the victim was killed over personal enmity and also named the suspects in the FIR who had also earlier engaged in a fight with his brother. Police said they were trying to arrest the suspects. Further investigations are under way.
