Govt to legislate for military court trial of May 9 accused

The House would also discuss situation prevailing in the border areas with Afghanistan and pay tribute to the Shuhada

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to summon the National Assembly session on April 1.

The government would make some important legislation for facilitating the military court trial of the accused involving in attacking the military installations on May 09.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is having close consultations with it major ally the Pakistan Peoples Party for the significant bill, the sources said.

The inaugural session that was concluded on Friday last elected the prime minister, speaker and deputy speaker, while witnessing rumpus by the opposition SIC members.

Well-placed parliamentary sources told The News here Tuesday that leader of the opposition would be appointed in the upcoming NA session after determination of majority opposition member’s support for the contender.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq told this scribe the other day that the request for designating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Omar Ayub as leader of opposition is being processed. Till the decision no one could act as leader of opposition in the House.

The sources said that some important house committees would also be constituted during the upcoming session.

A resolution would be presented to condemn the elements who staged protests against the national interests abroad including one was held outside the IMF headquarters in Washington. Another resolution would condemn the elements who communicate with the European Union and IMF regarding domestic developments.

The House would also discuss situation prevailing in the border areas with Afghanistan and pay tribute to the Shuhada.
