ISLAMABAD: Taking decisive action against pharmacies and medical stores found guilty of violating the Drug Act, 1976, a drug court in Islamabad has sentenced owners of several pharmacies and medical stores to imprisonment and imposed heavy fines on them.
Approved by the Quality Control Board, Islamabad, the court disposed of five cases filed by the Drug Control Section, Health Department, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) during the last week, resulting in convictions for the accused parties. The Drug Court in Islamabad has convicted several pharmacies and medical stores for Drug Act, 1976 violations including the sale of drugs without warranties, the sale of drugs in the absence of pharmacists, and the sale of unregistered drugs. According to the officials of the Drug Control Section of the ICT health department, pharmacies and medical stores should adhere strictly to the provisions outlined in the Drug Act, prioritizing the safety and well-being of consumers.
