Tahir-ul-Qadri’s work for peace, tolerance lauded
LAHORE: Acknowledging Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’s work for peace and tolerance, the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research, Singapore lauded his fatwa on suicide bombings as the extensively employed tool to rehabilitate fanatics.
‘Prof Tahir-ul-Qadri is one of the greatest scholars of the 21st century. No one has done more than him to protect the good name of Islam and Muslims,’ ICPVTR founder Prof Rohan Gunaratna said.
‘The Fatwa on Suicide Bombings and Terrorism by Prof Tahir-ul-Qadri has been used extensively to rehabilitate religious extremists. It is one of the best works to mainstream the thinking of those who deviate from Islam’s tenets and preaching,’ he said. During a visit to Minhaj University Lahore, he said that his research centre has harnessed the writings of Shaykh-ul-Islam to promote moderation, toleration and coexistence in Asia and beyond. Dr Gunaratna also lauded Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, terming the latter a torch-bearer of peace, who is bridging the gap between the East and the West. He invited and Minhaj University president Dr Hussain Qadri to Singapore to strengthen partnership with Pakistan and Muslim world.
