QWP leader vows to continue struggle for KP’s rights
PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Tuesday said his party would continue its struggle to help Khyber Pakhtunkhwa get its due rights.
He was speaking at a meeting of the provincial office-bearers of QWP at Wakan Kor here, said a press release. The meeting discussed the prevailing political situation and the law and order in the province. Commenting on the February 8 general election, Sikandar Sherpao said the polls were not held in a free, fair and transparent manner.
He said the election was massively rigged, adding the province could not afford facing more political experiments. Sikandar Sherpao said the political experiments, which were conducted over the last ten years in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had left the province in dire financial straits.
The QWP leader said the rigged elections had undermined democracy in the country and the people had lost faith in the political system. Sikandar Sherpao said that now the problems facing the province would not get due importance and the people would be the ultimate sufferers. He said the political parties had hoped that the general election would help end economic and political instability, but it failed to overcome the challenges.
He expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of DSP Ejaz Khan in an act of terrorism and said lawlessness had again reared its ugly head in Khyber Pakhtun- khwa and the situation was getting worse with each passing day. The meeting condemned the arrest of journalist Asad Toor and demanded the government to release him forthwith.
