Trump takes center stage at 250th anniversary fair opening after performers drop out

US President Donald Trump will headline an event commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary on the National Mall next month. This comes after organizers announced on Saturday that several musical performers scheduled to appear in the celebration had dropped out, raising concerns over the event’s political ties.

According to organizers, the fair is being run by the Freedom 250 group and will extend across the National Mall from the US Capitol to the Washington Monument featuring concert stages, exhibition hall, amusement rides and other attractions.

It is pertinent to mention that the lead singer, Bret Michaels became the fifth performer to drop out of the concerts. 

The prime reason behind is that the event was not the traditional gathering that he thought it would be. 

Meanwhile the actual reasons for the departures have not been disclosed. But the exit has sparked concerns regarding the sustainability of the event as originally projected.

On Saturday, Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the concert series is no longer necessary to back out as he is now headlining the event.

He proposed the possibility of giving a speech on the National Mall instead depicting himself as a much bigger draw than any musical act.

“The fact is that I am, according to many, ​the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World,” Trump wrote. ​He added ⁠that he gets “much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime” and “does so without a guitar.”

Additionally the president said he is “ordering my Representative to look at the feasibility of doing an AMERICA IS BACK RALLY.”
