ISLAMABAD: PTI founder Imran Khan on Tuesday demanded live telecast of his jail trial to let the nation understand what is happening in the court.

In an informal conversation with media in the courtroom in Adiala Jail, he said democracy is being trampled under the London Plan, claiming that his people were being picked up while the electioneering has started. He said women and children were put in jail after the May 9 incidents.

He said the Election Commission of Pakistan, police and FIA were all part of the London Plan. “The first and second tier leadership of the PTI has been knocked out. However, “they” are going to get a shock on February 8. They are afraid because they know the people cannot be stopped. Plan C is also in place and yet another plan is in the works.”

Imran said he told then army chief Gen Bajwa that transparent elections were the only solution to the problems facing the country. The PTI founder said Bajwa had warned him of various cases if he (Imran) talked about cipher. Is it treason to expose the conspiracy to overthrow the government, Imran asked.

He said investment by 10 million Pakistani expatriates can take the country out of crisis.

Imran demanded an independent inquiry into May 9 incidents, adding he never did anything against the army. “We did not do anything when bullets were fired at me.

Many people were forced to leave the party while I thanked Almighty after some people left the party,” he added.

The PTI founder said that Sheikh Rashid gave great support to the party but there was pressure from within the party that those who had held press conferences should not be given tickets. “Neither me nor Bushra Bibi has any contact with anyone in the power corridor. The Chief Election Commissioner has done what no one has done to date. A cowardly enemy has no morals. When people make up their minds, no propaganda succeeds.”

When asked whether Sher Afzal Marwat would say something and Rauf Hasan something else, he said that Marwat was emotional. “We have to give an explanation on his words. However, he is playing on the front foot,” he added.
