KU welcomes Batch 2024 students on first day on campus
The University of Karachi and its alumni association — Unikarians Internationals — warmly welcomed the Nawardan Jamia (fresh students of the batch 2024) at the KU Silver Jubilee Gate on Monday.

The University of Karachi celebrated the Youm-e-Jamia (University Day) by reliving the procession of one of the largest public sector universities when the newly enrolled students and alumni along with Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi, registrar, deans of all faculties, members of Senate and Syndicate, chairpersons and directors of various departments, research centers and institutes, and faculty members and employees, and new students followed the Huffaz-e-Quran, who were reciting the Holy Quran, and stepped inside the campus from the Silver Jubilee Gate and gathered at the ground adjacent to the New Administration Building.
A large number of students, and parents attended the grand central orientation ceremony which was held adjacent to the KU New Administration Building. On this occasion, renowned scientist Professor Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari said that he had never witnessed such a welcome at any university in the country.
“I have never seen the warm welcome given to these newcomers in my whole life. The tradition of gathering at the main gate of the campus and entering inside it while reciting the Holy Book.”
He informed the audience that he has also witnessed the whole of Pakistan today as the students from various districts of all provinces are present in the ceremony which will remain a part of his memory forever.
Dr Shinwari said that if a person wants to see a whole country in one place then he/she should visit the KU. Addressing the newcomers, he said that you guys are lucky that despite having such a large population of Karachi, you guys got admission to the University of Karachi, the biggest university in the country.
He advised that after graduating from the KU, the students should prove that they are different from others by keeping their morals and character high, and if they can’t prove it, then they have just wasted their time.
