ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced its decision to issue a show-cause notice to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) due to alleged negligence in implementing earthing measures for high-tension and low-tension poles.
An official document disclosed that the power regulator intends to take legal action against FESCO for its failure to install proper earthing on poles, posing a potential risk of fatal accidents.
Records show that five employee fatalities took place in FY2020-21, six fatalities (three employees and three members of the public) occurred in FY2021-22, and four fatalities (two employees and two members of the public) have been reported from July 2023 onward within its service area. This indicates a failure on the part of the licensee to address critical safety concerns, leading to current leakage, harm to human life, and subsequently, fatalities.
