Sindhi language centre inaugurated in Karachi
Sindhi Language Authority Chairman Prof Dr Ishaq Samejo has said that “to learn Sindhi language means to connect with the 5,000 years ancient Indus Valley civilization”.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a Sindhi language learning centre on Sharae Faisal, Karachi. Prof Samejo highlighted the profound cultural and historical significance of learning Sindhi. He announced the establishment of the Sindhi language learning centres in major cities across the country, including Islamabad, Sukkur, and Hyderabad.
Former provincial minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah delivered a compelling address underscoring the urgent need for Sindhi language education in private schools. He emphasized the crucial requirement for trained teachers and stressed the pivotal role of imparting Sindhi language skills to the current generation for a seamless transfer to the next.
Shah urged collaborative efforts between the Sindhi Language Authority, the education department, and associated institutions, highlighting the collective responsibility to contribute to the protection, preservation, and vibrant use of the Sindhi language. He further emphasized the need for a unified strategy and appropriate training fees for Sindhi subject teachers in private schools.
Renowned educationist, Dr Sulaiman Shaikh, expressed joy at witnessing the realisation of a long-awaited dream – the establishment of the Sindhi Learning Centre in Karachi. He commended the initiative and called attention to the social responsibility of fostering sensitivity towards Sindhi language education and usage.
Intellectual and writer Jami Chandio, celebrated the establishment of the Sindhi language learning centre, urging society to cultivate awareness regarding Sindhi language education and usage. He praised the Sindhi Language Authority’s tireless efforts and suggested the expansion of Sindhi learning centres to other cities in Sindh.
Secretary Culture and Tourism Abdul Aleem Lashari commended the fulfillment of Sardar Ali Shah’s dream to initiate Sindhi classes in Karachi. He acknowledged the pivotal role played by Prof Samejo in achieving this significant milestone. Lashari emphasized the need for multiple learning centres in Karachi due to its diverse linguistic population.
Dr Sher Mehrani, a teacher at the Sindhi department of Karachi University, lauded the establishment of Sindhi language learning centres and pledged unwavering support from his university. He emphasized that learning Sindhi is indispensable for passing the language to the next generation.
