PPP to serve poor, not to deviate from principles, says Bilawal
He says Roti, Kapra and Makan was slogan of party given to people by party founder and party continued implementing it as manifesto
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday said his party would not deviate from its core principles of serving the people in all circumstances.
He said PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto never compromised on his principles, adding that Benazir Bhutto also followed in the footprints of her father and challenged two dictators and terrorists but never surrendered.
He said that an imposed leader had taught the youth that taking U-turn was the quality of a leader. Now they would teach the youth that it was not the quality of a leader but of a coward.
He said the PPP had not deviated from its manifesto which states that Islam is our religion, democracy is our politics and socialism is our economy and people are the source of power.
He said that Roti, Kapra and Makan was the slogan of the party given to the people by the party founder and the party continued implementing it as the party manifesto.
He said that PPP workers should make efforts to bring their party to power to ensure that every citizen gets these basic necessities. The PPP had no political rival but inflation, poverty and joblessness were its foes.
The PPP needed the support of people to tackle these rivals, he said, adding his party wanted to provide job opportunities to all the citizens across the country.
He said that all the parties were exposed to the masses, including proponents of change who had proved as harbinger of destruction. He said that those who called themselves as representatives of “vote ko Izzat do” also stood exposed. “They neither respect the vote nor voters. They do not know how to govern,” he added.
The PPP chairman said the PPP had the solution to all the problems and its history had proved that the party had addressed these issues successfully. He said that they were talking about the difficulties of 16-month government and added that he had proved his performance during this period. “I will win the election on the basis of my 16-month performance,” Bilawal said and declared the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz as ‘Mehangai League’.
The PPP leader maintained that his party would launch the Kisan Card on the pattern of Benazir Income Support Programme to stop subsidies being given to mills owners and fertilizer companies but to farmers. He said PPP had launched a pilot programme of Benazir Mazdoor Card, which would be extended to the entire country in the next PPP government.
