The Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has suspended and transferred many of its officials over complaints of water theft and corruption received by the utility.
Through its office order released on Thursday, the KWSC suspended Anti-Theft Cell incharge Tabish Raza Husain, who also had the additional charge of District East superintendent engineer. The cell’s inspector Muhammad Amir Khan was also suspended. Both officials, according to the KWSC office order, were suspended on account of misconduct. They have been directed to hand over all their official vehicles, including pool vehicles of the cell, to the utility’s administration office.
Gulshan Executive Engineer (XEN) Wasif Farooqui was asked to hold the additional charge of District East superintendent engineer in Husain’s place. Muhammad Dilawar, who is the focal person of water and sewerage complaints from the Chief Minister House, was given the additional charge of Anti-Theft Cell incharge.
Muhammad Shakil Qureshi, who is the investment director of the Karachi Water & Sewerage Services Improvement Project, was appointed as the investigating officer for both the suspended officials.
Gulistan-e-Jauhar assistant XEN Saleem Raza was suspended on account of a public complaint. He was directed to contact the KWSC’s human resource department. Bulk Water Supply Chief Engineer Sikandar Ali Zardari was appointed as the inquiry officer for him.
