SESSI launches awareness campaign for labourers
The Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution (SESSI) has launched an awareness campaign to let employers and employees know about the facilities available for the welfare of the labourers in the province under the aegis of SESSI.
An awareness campaign in this connection was launched under aegis of the SESSI City-II Directorate.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Malik Zamir Ahmed Awan, the SESSI director, said that several revolutionary steps had been taken by the Sindh government’s Labour Department for the welfare of the workers.
He lamented that both the employers and workers in the province were unaware of these facilities. He said that several facilities were available for the labourers duly registered with the SESSI, including health treatment services and pension facilities for the workers who were disabled because of various reasons during service.
Awan assured the leaders of labour unions that officials of the Karachi Port Trust would be contacted to ensure that all the jetty workers were registered with SESSI. The written correspondence with the KPT officials has already begun in this regard. On the occasion, a documentary was shown to highlight facilities given by SESSI for labourers in Sindh.
