The Indian fishermen were escorted under tight security to the Cantonment Station in Karachi, from where they were boarded the Allama Iqbal Express at 2pm transported to Lahore. After reaching Lahore, they would be handed over to the Indian authorities at the Wagah border.
The expenses of the train journey were paid by the Edhi Foundation, which also gave the fishermen money, clothes and other necessary goods. Faisal Edhi, the head of the Edhi Foundation, stated that all travel expenses of the Indian fishermen had been borne by the Edhi Foundation. He mentioned that the Edhi Foundation had also provided the Indian fishermen with money, clothing, and other necessary articles.
One of the Indian fishermen expressed happiness, stating that they were going back home after many years and that they remembered their families and children.
