Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party Central Information Secretary Shazia Marri has said that former prime minister Imran Khan’s ouster from power was inevitable due to the denial of fundamental rights to the masses in the country.

Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday, she said it was wrong to assume that the aim behind the ouster of Khan was to seize power by the anti-PTI political parties.

Marri recalled that a constitutional method was adopted for the ouster of Khan, whose politics stood for spreading chaos in the country and indulging in mudslinging against his opponents.

She said the PTI chief during his regime had targeted both the national institutions and his opponents. She said politics shouldn’t be practised for causing mayhem and promoting the culture of serious disrespect in the country to the point that the offspring refused to honour their parents under the influence of the PTI.

Marri said the PPP’s political philosophy was alive as the leadership of her party had laid down their lives for the sake of the country.

She lamented that certain political parties hadn’t liked whenever the Peoples Party reiterated its demand for timely conduct of the general elections in the country as per the constitution. She informed the journalists that her party was still waiting for the detailed schedule for the general polls by the Election Commission of Pakistan after the announcement of the election date by it.

She told media persons that the PPP during its past regimes had come to immediate rescue and relief of the people of Sindh in the event of any natural disaster, including flood emergency. She reiterated the demand of her party for the provision of a level playing field to it in the general elections. She mentioned that the PPP had a presence in every part of the country and it would secure a victory if polls were fairly held in the country.
