ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said the opposition did not demand anyone’s resignation over the terror incidents in Pakistan but only objected that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have visited the Shikarpur district after the Imambargah tragedy.
Responding to the speech of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in the House, the opposition leader stated that the minister had claimed that only a finger of the suspected suicide attacker was found. But DIG Police claimed they had found the head, hands and feet of the terrorist who had hit the mosque.
“Ministers should give statements after thorough deliberation,” Shah said, adding that he had never levelled allegations against anyone over terrorism-related issue and never called it their failure.
“People want some concrete action from the government side to curb terrorism rather than issuing condemnation statements,” Shah opined and rejected the objection of the interior minister that raising the issue of terrorism in the house was meant for political purposes.
He said that various incidents of terrorism had occurred but they never did politics on this issue and always extended support to the government, and that raising the issue in parliament was not politics.
“To raise the issue of terrorism in the National Assembly should not be considered as politics as the masses want practical steps not just statements to condemn an incident,” Khursheed Shah said.
He said neither he indulged in any blame game on theincidents of terror nor termed such acts a failure of the government. “Instead of adopting the way of confrontation, we should support each other in this situation,” he opined.
