Being a city known for the different kind of food and cuisine, one thing that Karachi lacks is the variety of good local fast food chains it has to offer. With new restaurants and eateries opening up at every nook and corner, it’s hard to be able to enjoy everything available. The launch of Joy’s and Mario’s Pizzeria attempts to add something different amidst this sea of fast food chains.
Situated at Nishat Commercial – which has quickly become the most-desired locale for new restaurants in DHA, the restaurant is seamlessly divided into two areas. One is Joy’s, which boasts of being a burger and fries joint. On the other side is Mario’s Pizzeria, which aims to be your go-to place for a pizza fix. Both places offer you an international experience that you will enjoy.
Owned by the ever-experimental restaurateur, Aman Virji, these two new joints are in complete contrast to his previous higher-end restaurants. “With Joy’s and Mario’s, we have gone into every detail even down to the names sounding foreign but still being easy to pronounce. I may have another restaurant, but that is now established and doing well. If all goes to plan, I would also like to develop and open more such projects in the future,” says Aman.
Talking about the food, both restaurants are a notch above your standard fare of menu items despite them being fast food concepts. Joy’s offers you a wide range of burgers with varying meat options. The menu also consists of spectacular array of sides. On the other side, quite literally, Mario’s Pizzeria does not go that ultra-extra mile with sides. The simple menu consists of seven different flavours of pizza to choose from. “I’ve always wanted to do something for a wider demographic. Rather than bringing a franchise from abroad, I wanted to create something from here using as many local ingredients as possible. At the same time, I wanted it to be affordable so everyone can enjoy,” explains Aman.
The look of the place is quite simple. With two kitchens on either side of the place and a row of tables and chairs placed to eat conveniently. The interior is raw and plain with just a few retro pieces placed here and there which adds a pop of colour and a fun vibe to the place. It is fortunate that places like Joy’s and Mario’s Pizzeria has popped up for those looking for something different and delicious. The joint has the potential to easily become your go-to place to hangout with friends or family and have a good time with great food.
