 you & meFahad Mirza

He is an actor, model and a plastic surgeon. Fahad Mirza started modelling while doing his MBBS from Dow Medical College. Later on, he made a smooth transition from modelling to acting and proved his mettle as a versatile actor. Some of his famous drama serials include ‘Badi Aapa’, ‘Main Deewani’ and ‘Shanakht’. Apart from this, Fahad has also appeared in several fashion shows and television commercials while pursuing his career as a plastic surgeon too. Mirza is currently working on his up-coming project, ‘Bilqees Urf Bitto’. Let’s take a look at his likes and dislikes...

What inspired you to become a part of showbiz?

As a teen, I was inspired by the lead guy in the commercial of a soft drink brand. I always thought one day I’d be that guy and it fuelled my desire to start modelling. Though I never got the chance to be that guy, the passion and desire still burns in me.

How did your showbiz career practically start off?

Sarwat was an art student at Indus Valley when I was in Dow. We decided to have a photo shoot where I would be the model and she would be the photographer. Surprisingly, the pictures came out very nice. We gave them to Arshad Tareen who was my brother in law’s friend. He forwarded them to Marina Khan’s husband and they cast me in my first play ‘TV3 Karachi’. Modelling, happened through Munaf at Nabila’s.

How challenging is it to carry out two professions together which are totally different?

It is challenging and very taxing physically. There have been instances where I didn’t sleep for 72 hours and was shuttling between the hospital and shootings. However, I intensely love both the professions and physical exhaustion is but a little price to pay.

Projects that brought success your way?

As far as my television projects are concerned I could never work consistently enough to capitalize on my big breaks. I could only take up roles which required limited time, as I would not get an extended leave from the hospital. ‘Bari Apa’ and ‘Shanakht’ are my two big ventures. For commercials Oreo takes the cake. Furthermore, I have done all major brands from Lipton, to Coke, to Mobilink to HBL. I can keep going on and on!

My biggest assets are my family, my unwavering determination and my ability to work really hard.

The best actor in this country.

 Your strength...

My ability to perform under pressure, take up challenges and never back off.

Something you are strongly possessive about?

My watches.

Fahad Mirza

 When feeling low you prefer...

To introspect. Most of our fears and negative emotions are only in our head.
