Shah Rukh Khan gives an inspiring talk at the 2017 TED conference in Vancouver.

“There are lots of you over here who haven’t seen my work and I feel really sad for you,” quipped Shah Rukh Khan at his TED talk, which has finally been released online. SRK is well known for his charm and his wit, which is why we all knew that his TED talk would be inspiring and hilarious at the same time.

He began the talk by cracking jokes to break the ice: “I looked at my face and realized I am starting to look more and more like my wax statue at Madame Tussauds.”

The reason he made fun of his face was to draw parallels between his life and humanity in general, at how life around him is decaying. He spoke of the internet and how it was supposed to be revolutionary in connecting people together but it only made people drift away from each other even more due to the constant judgment and negativity that comes across on social media from time to time. “Humanity is an aging superstar, like me,” he said, while revealing his age more than twice, something not many superstars own up to.

But SRK did more than simply talk about how humanity is decaying. His talk’s purpose was to inspire people to fight all the evils of the world with one of the most powerful emotions to ever exist: love and compassion.

“You may use your faith to make people afraid and terrorize them into submission, or you can use it to give courage to people, so that they may rise to the greatest heights of enlightenment. You can use all the monies that you all have earned to wage futile wars and give guns in the hands of little children to kill each other with, or you can use it to make more food, to fill their stomachs with,” he said.

SRK discussed many things, such as his career, how he deals with his fame and how the Internet changed his career. The talk is being deemed as one of the funniest talks of 2017, despite being emotionally engaging and inspiring.

For those of you who haven’t had enough of King Khan, don’t despair. SRK will be hosting a TV version of Ted Talks in India called Nayi Soch. The show will be launched later this year.
