Want to glow this season? Humaa Tahir, an expert beautician, shares the perfect summer look...Humaa says it all...

Barely there make-up

According to Humaa, the ‘no make-up look’ is ideal for summers. “By no make-up look I mean that your make-up should be barely there. Subdued foundation/base with simple eyes and hints of colour on the cheeks and lips is very much in vogue. For the eyes, glossy shades - that give sheen on the eyelids - along with voluminous mascara and very thin eyeliner is the look to go for. Matte lip colours in hues of light pinks and peaches will be all the rage. Of course the blush should also be in soft pinks as the overall make-up is subtle and pretty,” she says.

Humaa says it all...“The weather becomes too humid in summers and your skin tends to produce sebum. Applying lots of shimmer can make your face look very oily especially during the day. Just try and keep your highlighter as natural as possible,” she adds.

Humaa requests women to stop obsessing over fair complexion and avoid buying beauty products that do not match one’s skin tone. “Remember, if you have a wheatish complexion then buying a foundation fairer than your skin colour will not make you appear ‘gora’,” she stresses.

Love is in the ‘hair’

They say hair is the crowning glory and rightfully so. A good hair cut, colour or style can jazz up one’s persona. “Sadly, our women are afraid to experiment and prefer having long or medium length hair. For those who want shoulder length hair, lots of layers is the way to go. The good thing about layers is that they are quite easy to style. Internationally, short bobs, angular bobs, wedges are really in. And all you daring girls out there, if you want to stand out from the rest then definitely try bobs. They look edgy yet cute,” tells Humaa.

Regarding hair colour that will rule this season, Humaa informs, “As I said earlier, women just don’t want to try out different looks, and hence, opt for hues like chocolate brown or go for lowlights in various shades of browns, hazel and caramel. In my opinion ash grey is the perfect colour for summers. Along with ash grey shade, soft green and rose petal pink hair colour are also quite in these days, but only bold girls go for it.”

About hairstyles, Humaa states, “This season, hairstyles and hairdos include all types of Humaa says it all...braids like twist braids, fish tails, French tails and also variations of Samurai hair knot will be the ‘it’ thing.”

Summer care:

Many women complain of hair fall especially during summers. Humaa advises to wash your hair every alternate day and don’t forget to apply leave in serums. For those who wear hijab, wash your hair everyday as the sweat and oil produced on the scalp is the main reason of hair fall and dry, brittle hair.

On what skincare regime women should follow during summers, she says, “Skin becomes oily and pores tend to get clogged when the weather is hot. So, cleansing is a must especially before going to bed. The best thing is to spray rose water on your face after every few hours.”

“Girls with sensitive skin can opt for Dermalogica’s sulphate free face wash. Even Mud Make-up has an amazing facial cleanser that contains essential oils giving you a fresh and glowing look,” informs Humaa

“It is important that women invest in quality hair care and skin care products that is recommended by a professional beautician. Cheap products can harm your skin and hair, so be careful,” she shares.
