True art, the purest expression of creativity, doesn’t dwell behind closed doors,” says curator Pomme Amina Gohar. Galliyon Ke Rang, a street art festival held from January 11 to 14 at The Port Grand, illuminated Karachi with an explosion of colours, creativity, and cultural diversity. Curated by Pomme Amina Gohar, this immersive event aimed to bring art out of closed doors and onto the streets, where vibrant ideas breathe freely.

Port Grand served as the perfect canvas for this extraordinary celebration. From 5:00 pm onwards, the venue transformed into a hub where art met the streets, and diverse cultures converged. Attendees were invited to step into a world where imagination knew no bounds.

From visual art installations to live performances, the event showcased a diverse array of creative expressions. Phenomena is dedicated to promoting art, culture and unity within our community. Through events like this, they strive to create spaces where creativity flourishes and diverse voices find harmony.

The event showcased a diverse array of creative expressions, featuring renowned artists such as Amin Gulgee, Abdul Jabbar Gul, AS Rind, Jimmy Engineer, Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, Muna Siddiqui, Madiha Hyder, Sanki King, Munawar Ali, Sheema Khan, Fatima Khalid, Aliya Faizi, Obaid Ur Rehman, Umaina Khan, Affan Tariq, Bilal Jabbar, Syed Sajjad Uddin, Syeda Sheeza Ali, Talha Ansari, Behram Farooqui, Aswad Anees, Nimra Shoaib, Zahra Arif, Zainab Hassan, M Jawad Hassan, Gabriella Brinsmead, Hina Tabassum, Rameez Abdul, and many more.

Artists from various institutes, including Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture, University of Karachi, Arts Council Institute of Arts & Crafts, Karachi School of Art, and Mehrwan Art Academy Lyari, brought their unique perspectives to the festival.

Galliyon Ke Rang offered a variety of artistic experiences, including captivating art installations, vibrant graffiti, awe-inspiring street murals, live painting sessions, mesmerising performance art, and a showcase of emerging talent. The event also embraced digital and immersive forms of creativity, providing a dynamic and engaging experience for attendees. Some of the innovative additions at the festival were Interactive Street Murals, Augmented Reality Showcase that incorporated cutting-edge technology by integrating augmented reality elements into select artworks. This fusion of traditional and modern art forms offered a multisensory experience.

Community Art Spaces were dedicated areas where attendees collaborated on community art projects, fostering a sense of togetherness and cultural appreciation.

The event was graced by esteemed artists and experienced individuals from the art world. As the evening unfolded, live mural paintings, where visitors were invited to join in the creative exercise, were displayed. Not only that, thought-provoking panel discussion on the street art were held. Intimate talks and interviews with leading artists, each delving into their unique artistic journeys were held.

There was an Art Bazaar too that created a marketplace where emerging artists could display and sell their creations, fostering direct connections between artists and art enthusiasts.

Phenomena’s dedication to promoting art, culture, and unity within the community was evident throughout the festival. The festival served as a testament to the power of creativity in fostering unity, understanding, and appreciation for the diversity that defines Karachi. It created a space where different voices found harmony, and the atmosphere inspired, uplifted, and united all attendees.
