Ladiesfund was established in 2007 as an initiative to provide financial security to women and to promote and train women entrepreneurs. It aims to integrate the entrepreneurial needs based on the economic and social aspects of the local communities, with respect to greater women participation in the workforce.

Recently, Ambassador of Pakistan in the United States, HE Mr Masood Khan, invited a Ladiesfund delegation of dynamic women leaders across fields to the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC for a roundtable discussion and dialogue.

Commenting on the event, the Ambassador stated, “Delighted to receive Ms Tara Uzra Dawood, President, Dawood Global Foundation; and Pakistani-American women professionals and entrepreneurs excelling in diverse fields in the US - taking initiative to create mentorship opportunities for Pakistani women in the tech sector.”

Some of the women delegates included Momina Aijazuddin (IFC), Arfa Syed (Director At Government Technology Firm, formerly NASA), Tehmina Nawab (World Bank group), Saima Abdul Qadir (Carbon Markets Director at CIX), Hibah Khan (International Monetary Fund), Sabrina Khan (Legislative Correspondent, US Senate), Dr. Shahrnaz Kemal, (Research scientist, Neurological diseases), Masoom Salma Rehman (Fashion Designer), among others. Ladiesfund President Tara Uzra Dawood headed the delegation and chaired the event.

“We were honoured to spotlight these incredible Pakistani-American women collectively to the Pakistan Ambassador and Embassy in the US,” said Ms Dawood.

“It was great meeting the Ambassador and his staff as a Ladiesfund delegate to discuss topics that are top of mind for Pakistani-American women as we navigate our careers, raising children, and contributing back to our communities locally and in Pakistan,” elucidated Mahwash Hamlani, Partner, Accenture. “I look forward to learning more about how to engage better with the embassy and progress of ongoing projects in Pakistan,” she added.

“It was inspiring to meet so many talented Pakistani women working across a wide range of disciplines in the US and Pakistan. I could see from the conversations happening around the table that this meeting would open doors to many future collaboration opportunities - helping us all achieve more, together,” expressed Mahreen Sohail, fiction writer.

“It was truly an honour having a seat at the Pakistani Embassy roundtable hosted by Ladiesfund. I not only had the opportunity to discuss how to amplify the Pakistani-American relationship, but also met many accomplished Pakistani women that are all equally making Pakistanis around the world proud of them,” highlighted Niha Razi, political consultant and former Chief of Staff for Congressman Al Green.

“It was lovely seeing everyone. I was swamped with work deliverables and only came yesterday. I did not want to miss this meeting as it was a meaningful event,” pointed out Natasha Dossa, one of the attendees.
