If ever there were a spring day so perfect,
so uplifted by a warm intermittent breeze
that it made you want to throw
open all the windows in the house
and unlatch the door to the canary’s cage,
indeed, rip the little door from its jamb,
a day when the cool brick paths
and the garden bursting with peonies
seemed so etched in sunlight
that you felt like taking
a hammer to the glass paperweight
on the living room end table,
releasing the inhabitants
from their snow-covered cottage
so they could walk out,
holding hands and squinting
into this larger dome of blue and white,
well, today is just that kind of day.

Little girl on the swing
Dreaming a world also bling
Exciting eyes shinning bright
Ready to go on this awesome ride
A big white man came to give lift
With sweets in hand and candy as gift
The girl with dignity and grace
The man is trying to chase
Everything has shattered in glance
Let’s see what happens next!

I thought the world was black and white
The skies were a faded grey
As if I was being led astray
But then one morn
I woke up amid the colours
The sun was up in all it’s glory
The flambouyant flowers bloomed before me
Lascivious blue skies hovered above
Wonderous sights,
Everywhere below
My world had changed
Into a paradise
But I couldn’t yet comprehend, why so?
And then popped in my head
A glint, so bright
That it was you all the time
It was you, my dad
It was you.

She is a free spirit rebellious and wild
She’s changing so quickly no longer a child
Determined, impulsive, she gets into flight
She wants independence and quotes me her rights
She is a free spirit now spreading her wings
In search of adventure and trying new things
She sees the horizon the beckons from far;
Relies on the guidance of her lucky star
But when the experience starts fading away
She finds disillusion obstracting her way
there’s home as an option to get her on track;
I’ll be waiting there to welcom her back ...
