Dear Ed,
In the issue of 3 October, I loved the cover story ‘The revenge of the rui’ by Aleena Akhtar. It was such a gripping and spooky story! I loved how it started with a calm morning in the valley and slowly turned dark and mysterious. The ending gave me chills in the best way, and I cannot wait for the second part! Aleena, you did an amazing job building the suspense. It felt like watching a really good mystery movie.

Say no to littering
Dear Editor,
Littering has become a serious problem across Pakistan. Rubbish on the streets not only spoils the beauty of cities but also poses health risks. Piles of garbage block pathways, emit foul odours, and become breeding grounds for disease.
According to television reports, in many areas waste is not collected properly and often ends up on streets or in drains, creating difficulties for pedestrians and harming the environment. During the monsoon season, the situation worsens as rubbish blocks drainage channels, leading to flooding and the spread of waterborne diseases.
Everyone must take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean. Sanitation workers should also ensure proper waste collection and raise awareness to help preserve the cleanliness and beauty of our communities.

Online gaming
Dear Editor,
The rising trend of online gaming has become a major concern for parents and educators in Pakistan. Excessive gaming can lead to serious issues such as the Internet addiction, anxiety, depression, social withdrawal, and sleep deprivation among children. Studies show that spending long hours gaming often results in aggressive behaviour, a shorter attention span, and declining academic performance.
Parents and guardians should monitor their children’s gaming habits and help them maintain a healthy balance between screen time and physical activities. Schools should also play their role by educating students about the dangers of excessive gaming and encouraging outdoor and social engagement.
Research indicates that children who spend too much time gaming are more likely to face mental health challenges. Therefore, it is essential for parents, teachers and communities to work together to raise awareness and safeguard children’s emotional well-being.
