POETS’ CORNER

Poems forever

I am not yours

By Sara Teasdale

I am not yours, not lost in you,

Not lost, although I long to be

Lost as a candle lit at noon,

Lost as a snowflake in the sea.

You love me, and I find you still

A spirit beautiful and bright,

Yet I am I, who long to be

Lost as a light is lost in light.

Oh plunge me deep in love - put out

My senses, leave me deaf and blind,

Swept by the tempest of your love,

A taper in a rushing wind.

R.S.V.P

By Abid Agha

In moments sweet, where friendships bloom,

A whisper drifts from a distant room.

An invitation, penned with care,

A chance to gather, a joy to share.

With ink of hope on paper bright,

“Please join us beneath the starlit night.”

Each letter glimmers - a promise to keep,

As hearts fall into a rhythm deep.

The table awaits with laughter and cheer,

Where stories unfold and joys appear.

And in a world where time may sway,

A simple note can light the way.

Répondez s’il vous plaît-

“Respond, dear friend,” the message implores,

To celebrate life, to open doors.

For every ‘yes’ is a bridge made strong,

A melody sweet in our shared song.

So let us gather, let spirits soar,

With every RSVP, we open a door—

To moments cherished, memories bright,

A tapestry woven in love’s pure light.

Autumn

By Raja Dawood Latif

When autumn leaves begin to fall

And no one's there to squeak or crawl,

The autumn is here, the autumn is here.

When ground is covered with yellow frost,

The autumn is here, the autumn is here.

When squirrels tuck in for a nap

And sunlight throws a golden trap,

The autumn is here, the autumn is here.

Unrequited

By Ajiya Zehra

When I see him, I can’t help but smile.

If it is but for a moment or a while

I cannot mask the gentle grin

That dons my face when he walks in.

Oh to be in his presence,

to have him so near

Makes my heart pound so wildly

all surely hear.

And the instant in which our

eyes may meet

That same heart races with

an unearthly beat.

His words, his voice bring such

rapture and thrill,

They course through my body

and echo there still.

All seems so perfect, all feels so right

When he is the object there in my sight.

And yet the ecstatic joy and delightful bliss

All in time will be found amiss.

For what good is a match once the

fire is ignited?

And what use is a love that is unrequited?

A glass of tears

By Eman Ayesha

Let’s have a glass of tears

On a table stained with blood smears.

Put all of your thoughts on the plate

And let your past be torn by fate.

It’s going to be a night of horror,

As we shall have a dinner of fear.

Just blow out all the candles,

So the darkness will appear clear.

Close every door and window tight,

So no one hears us in the night.

For it’s going to be a bloody bath,

A process cruel upon its path.

It is no tale of castle and bear,

But the reflection of a mind in despair.
