COMIC RELIEF
Layah Heilpern (@LayahHeilpern): So Elon Musk is turning Twitter into an all in one app. What Facebook tried to do 10 years ago. An app for everything, shopping, payments, social media etc. Sounds similar to China’s WeChat. Why are billionaires so obsessed with controlling every aspect of people’s lives?
Matt Turck (@mattturck): For anyone confused: Twitter copied Clubhouse but then TikTok copied Twitter Vine so YouTube and Instagram did that too - now Instagram is copying Twitter, Twitter wants to be WeChat, and TikTok wants to be like Twitter.
Wagatwe Wanjuki (@wagatwe): X. The thing I’ve been trained to click when I want to exit an app. Perfect. No notes.
Whitney Cummings (@WhitneyCummings): I guess X makes sense because I only come on here to stalk mine.
High expectations
Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Officer asks a young engineer fresh out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, “And what starting salary are you looking for?” The engineer replies, “In the region of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package.”
The interviewer inquires, “Well, what would you say to a package of five weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every two years, say, a red Corvette?”
The engineer sits up straight and says, “Wow! Are you kidding?” The interviewer replies, “Yeah, but you started it.”
