to Inaaya, a number of local brands have been getting a mention in mainstream western media for the last few years. And who can forget the infamous Paul Smith/Peshawari chappal controversy? It now seems that another much-loved local handicraft has been embraced by Hollywood.
The Avengers actor Mark Ruffalo, who plays The Hulk in the popular film franchise, tweeted this photo of himself over the weekend and he was wearing a traditional Sindhi ajrak. The caption reads, “Happy Saturday Everyone! Yes, #BedHeadSaturday”. In response to a fan’s comment, the actor went on to explain how he got the wrap. “I got it from my Pakistani friend Sadia Khan and her family. I will use it when I meditate.”
Sadia Khan is a photographer from Karachi who worked on a photoshoot with Ruffalo earlier this year. According to her, the Hollywood star was extremely interested in Pakistani culture, especially our festive weddings. Style knows no boundaries and this photograph certainly proves that.
