Grey’s Anatomy fans will finally get answers to what happened to Dr. Alex Karev and closure to his character’s exit months after the departure of the series’ original cast member Justin Chambers. The last time Chambers was onscreen in the series, he was returning home to care for his ailing mother.
According to Variety, “Justin Chambers’ last onscreen appearance in Grey’s Anatomy was back in November 2019, but his longtime character Alex Karev will officially get his sendoff in the March 5 episode”.
The news was revealed on Thursday in a promo of the Shonda Rhimes-produced medical drama. “Chambers, who started the season as one of only four remaining original stars, sent shockwaves throughout the Grey’s universe in January when news broke that he was walking away from the series he has called home for the past 16 seasons. What’s more, Chambers’ last onscreen appearance had already aired,” reported The Hollywood Reporter.
Recent reports suggest that the upcoming [Alex farewell] episode will not feature any new footage of Chambers. In the episodes that have aired since, he has been mentioned as being in Iowa supporting his schizophrenic mother (played by Lindsay Wagner).
