After having its world premiere at the 2018 International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) in Toronto along with multiple screenings at different international film festivals, Pakistani short film, Kachrachi has another feather in its cap.

Directed by Ali Mehdi, the short film is all set for its worldwide release on YouTube on May 3, 2019. “The wait is about to get over, here’s the last bit of teaser before the worldwide release of the award winning short film, Kachrachi,” read the post on the short film’s official Facebook handle.

Kachrachi features artist Nazar Ul Hasan, who won the Best Actor award at the Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival (MSIFF) 2018 for his character in the short. It follows the story of a homeless madman, who lives under a city bridge. The title of the short, Kachrachi is basically a combination of the Urdu word kachra (trash) and the city Karachi and sarcastically highlights social issues that have been overlooked by its people.

In the past, the short also won the Award of Commendation at Canada Shorts - Canadian & International Short Film Festival 2018. This is not all. Quite recently, the short has been officially selected to be screened at the Dumbo Film Festival (DFF) 2019 in Brooklyn, New York.
