Ali Sethi has spent the last several months working with a string of people for various collaborations. He joined forces with Quratulain Balouch aka QB for the song ‘Dil Karda Ay/Agar Tum Mil Jao’. The track is a part of the ongoing third season of Cornetto Pop Rock.

When asked what it was like working with such a powerhouse vocalist, Ali Sethi told Instep from New York City: “She is indeed a powerhouse, and it was an unforgettable experience.”

Ali also collaborated with Faris Shafi for the song ‘Waasta’ with the gritty music video directed by Abdullah Harris. Speaking about what drew him to work with the director, Ali explained: “I was intrigued by his dark aesthetic and wanted a dash of it for ‘Waasta.’

Most recently, Ali Sethi was directed by Aabroo Hashmi for the music video of ‘Rondian Akhiaan’ for a Souchaj campaign. Talking about working with Aabroo Hashmi, he told Instep, “Aabroo is my good friend – I’ve worked with her before and admire her stuff.”

For the song ‘Waasta’ (featuring Faris Shafi), Ali also reunited with music producer Saad Sultan. The two have worked on a number of songs in the past including the beautiful ‘Mahi Mera’ featuring folk artist Jamaldin. When asked how their equation has evolved over the years, Ali said, “When Saad and I started making music together, we had a lot more time for experiments. I remember ‘Yaad Mein Teri’ took nine months to make. Imagine! Nine months for a song that’s not going to be on TV or in a movie or even have a video on YouTube. I think we were approaching music like explorers — we wanted to cross lines. In the last few years, however, we have both become a lot busier, which I feel is a good thing. Saad is doing many scores and soundtracks for film and TV, and I’m constantly traveling and performing. So we still collaborate, but it’s a whole other life for both of us.”
