Somewhere last year Farhad Humayun of Overload, had announced that he would be releasing his first solo album, Mera Naam that would consist of ten tracks, blending genres and more, with Sarmad Ghafoor serving as producer. Having released the Urdu single, ‘Mur Ke Dekho’ from Mera Naam, Farhad is gearing up to release a new song called ‘Kambakht’ from the same record.

The song, featuring singer-songwriter Faiza Mujahid, will be a mixture of seventies disco vibe and given the collective voices of both Farhad and Faiza, they have the goods to pull it off.

Speaking to Instep exclusively about the upcoming single, Farhad stated: “’Kambakht’ is a song about anyone trying to make it big against all odds and negativity. It’s about the conviction that YOU are special and can do anything,” before adding, “it shows the humourous side of me as an artist in a way I haven’t shown before.”

The singer-songwriter added that the lyrics have been penned by “my friend and great actor Hamza Ali Abbasi” and Farhad has played all the instruments on the disco-inspired song. “It is inspired by the early days of disco and Clint Eastwood movie scores,” he informed.

“A wonderful cast of enthusiastic friends and professionals added colour, authenticity and individuality. Haiya Bokhari has done a fantastic job at styling. I’m really happy about this.”

Farhad Humayun is also the chief force behind the upcoming season of Levi’s Live that aims to release a series of music videos as well as live show(s) featuring the likes of Maria Unera Qureshi, Abdullah Qureshi, Arsalan Hasan and Keeray Makoray. This could well be the year of original music and Farhad is adding to that story.
