The actor talks about his character and what viewers should look forward to in the play that begins on Geo TV from December 25.
Geo TV’s upcoming drama, Silsilay has arrived on the horizon with intriguing teasers that star Momal Sheikh, Junaid Khan, Muneeb Butt and Hiba Bukhari in the lead. From the teasers, it seems like a family drama in which Hiba Bukhari can be seen dancing around Junaid Khan, who is engrossed in a book. On the other hand, Butt is paired with Sheikh, a girl who lives in her own fantasy world.
In a bid to know more about the play, Instep spoke to Junaid Khan about his character and what the project holds in store for viewers.
“I am essaying the character of a doctor, who is an only child and the pillar of the family. He is mature, poised and sober as a person and though loving and friendly, he is not very expressive. He is raised by a single parent (mother) and goes abroad for higher education. The story unfolds when he comes back after completing his studies,” shared Khan.
In one of his recent interviews, Khan stated that Silsilay is a family oriented play. When asked how different it is from other plays that currently dominate our TV screens, he noted, “Usually, dramas these days revolve around a couple or there is a love triangle and everything else follows. Silsilay is different in the sense that the story is based on an interactive family where all the characters are interlinked and connected to one another.”
According to Khan, Silsilay has a very strong cast including Seemi Raheel and Shagufta Ejaz aside from the lead characters. The play has been directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain while the script has been written by Samra Bukhari.
Speaking about his director, the singer turned actor observed, “Hussain is someone who takes every detail into account while shooting and works very hard on character development. He is a very good director and the way he narrated the script to me, I actually felt connected with this character.”
Khan also claims that Silsilay has a “realistic element with a slightly dramatic touch” and that is what the viewers should look forward to.
The play will premiere on Geo TV on December 25.
