Streaming giant Netflix is definitely taken over the world. While we reported earlier this month that Netflix Pakistan is all set to produce its first original series (with Zahid Ahmed as the protagonist), the latest news is that super star Shah Rukh Khan has joined hands with Netflix. Khan’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment has collaborated with Netflix for an original, eight-episode political espionage series, Bard of Blood based on a book of the same name by an Indian author, Bilal Siddiqui.

“We have always tried to create world-class content and entertainment from India,” Shah Rukh Khan said on joining hands with the company. “Netflix has shown that Indian stories have a global audience and we would love to use this platform and its reach to tell more stories.”

The book Bard of Blood is set in the Indian subcontinent and follows the life of Kabir Anand, an expelled spy who is recalled from his new life as a Shakespeare professor to save his country and his long-lost love. The multilingual series, that will be made available in Urdu, English, Hindi and other languages, will feature intricate, highly stylized action sequences while it will be available for 109 million members around the world.

Produced by Khan, Bard of Blood will go on floors shortly and will be streamed on Netflix worldwide in 2018.
