Iram Parveen Bilal, who wrote, co-produced and directed the 2012 film Josh starring Aamina Sheikh, Mohib Mirza and several others, and also founded Qalambaaz, a platform that is meant to nurture the growth of screenplay writers, is looking to make her next film.

According to the director, the film is called Forbidden Steps and it’s a passion project of hers. Describing the film as a project that has been in the making for “most of my career up to this point”, the director said in a statement: “When legendary actor Om Puri, who was attached to the film, passed away in January, I realized I didn’t want to wait longer to raise funds and had to make the film soon.”

The filmmaker, who counts as inspiration films such as The Namesake, Frida, Trainspotting, City of God and Full Metal Jacket, is hoping to crowd fund the film. “We are part financed and have now decided to crowd fund a good chunk of the film given the current climate in the US.”

Apart from a two minute pitch video, there is a crowdfunding link through which those who wish to support cinema can contribute in whatever capacity they deem fit. In addition, people can also take to social media to lend support and spread awareness.
