With an aim to reinvigorate the music scene, Cornetto Pop Rock made a splash in its inaugural edition last year. Featuring a stellar line-up that included artists like Umair Jaswal, Zoe Viccaji, Ali Azmat, Noori, Komal Rizvi, Qurutulain Balouch aka QB and Qurrum Hussain from Josh, the first season consisted of a series of live shows (in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad) and six colorful, collaborative music videos. Thankfully, the initiative was not a one-off since a second season is on the cards.
While it has been announced that a new season will fall upon us in the coming days, weeks and months ahead, the promo for it and complete artist line-up will be revealed at a launch event that is scheduled to take place next month (February 4). Apart from the unveiling of the promo, Pakistan’s original rock god, Ali Azmat, will also be performing at said launch event.
The good news here is that the format of the show will remain the same which means a total of six music videos will also release this year. In addition, three live shows are also planned, one each in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. What will be different about the initiative this year is the addition of the Cornetto Pop Rock platform that will showcase and nurture raw talent.
“We at Cornetto believe in music and the potential of Pakistan’s youth!” Asad Malik, Senior Brand Manager, Cornetto, noted in a press statement. “We have developed the ‘Cornetto Pop Rock’ platform to explore the raw talent hidden in the upcoming generation of Pakistan. By creating music with talented artists, we want to inspire them to create something magical themselves – not just musically but anything that makes them passionate!”
