The biggest night in British fashion honoured an American model, Gigi Hadid, with one of the biggest awards of the evening. The 21 year old model won the International Model of the year Award, beating her own sister Bella Hadid and best friend Kendall Jenner.
The award was presented to her by Donatella Versace, who coincidentally was the mastermind behind Hadid’s memorable red carpet look as well. Not only did Hadid win an award but she was also one of the best dressed celebrities on the red carpet, draped in a metallic asymmetrical Versace gown, which could also easily be called a pantsuit, and Dsquared2 lace up sandals.
It’s no surprise that the older Hadid won the award as 2016 has truly been her year. She has graced various magazine covers and been a prominent face at all leading fashion weeks all over the world, walking for big names in fashion, such as Balmain, Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu. Hadid even took on the role of fashion designer for her line TommyXGigi, a collaboration between the model and Tommy Hilfiger.
Hadid also co-hosted the American Music Awards, her first hosting experience ever, which proved to be memorable due to her fashionable looks and unforgettable impersonation of the First Lady, Melania Trump.
It has clearly been Hadid’s year through and through and thankfully, she chose a powerful look at the Fashion Awards to commemorate her success.
