In an era of overbooked schedules and strict deadlines, it is not always feasible for viewers to watch dramas as and when they air on television. Watching them online is therefore a convenient option for viewers as well as television networks that benefit out of it.

Shazia Syed, Chairperson and CEO Unilever Pakistan while speaking at the launch explained that Drama Time portal will allow consumers convenient access to a plethora of dramas produced across the country.

Unilever collaborates with multiple TV channels and launches Pakistan’s first drama portal, Drama Time.

In an era of overbooked schedules and strict deadlines, it is not always feasible for viewers to watch dramas as and when they air on television. Watching them online is therefore a convenient option for viewers as well as television networks that benefit out of it.

Recognizing the growth of online video content consumption in the country, Unilever Pakistan has launched the first Pakistani drama portal, Drama Time that offers high quality content legally.

The platform aims to fight piracy and will benefit both the audience and television networks with minimal advertising. Some of the leading TV channels including Hum TV Network, APlus/ATV, Express Network, TV One and Urdu1, have collaborated with Unilever on this venture. Dramas from these channels will be available on the site and made accessible to viewers, who can watch their favourite dramas online on their desired time.

The launch event for Drama Time, recently held in Karachi, was a star-studded affair with some of industry’s leading actors in attendance. These included veterans such as Behroze Sabzwari, Rubina Ashraf, Hina Bayat and Saba Waseem Abbas as well as stars like Ahsan Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Feroze Khan and Sarwat Gilani, amongst others.

Addressing the audience at the event, Shazia Syed, Chairperson and CEO Unilever Pakistan, spoke about the initiative.

“Unilever is committed to ensure that we provide our consumers with the good quality and convenient solutions for their everyday needs,” she stated. “As a company that was established at the birth of this country, we are very close to our consumers and our Pakistani heritage. This portal is a reflection of just that. It provides our consumers easy and convenient access to hundreds of beloved Urdu dramas produced by the country on one site and conserves our TV industry heritage through a legal platform. We are very happy to be here with our partners for the launch of this initiative today,” Syed concluded.

The portal provides multiple TV channels an opportunity to make their dramas available to an ever-expanding digital audience and increase the viewership of their productions while drama connoisseurs can also have access to these dramas as per their convenience.
