WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama has broken the Guinness World record with his twitter account @POTUS.
The US President become the fastest person to have one million followers when he broke the mark five hours into the launch of account on May 18.
Obama sent the inaugural tweet from a smart phone in the Oval Office on Monday. The already verified account which now has over two million followers features the customary headshot of Obama, but also a background photo of him walking over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, in March, when he marked the 50th anniversary of a civil rights march that changed America.
