IS claims responsibility for Texas attack

DALLAS: The Islamic States group (IS) has claimed responsibility for a shooting outside an exhibit of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Sunday.

This is the first attack on American soil by IS. The statement said that 'the soldiers of the Caliphate attacked because the contestants insulted Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) through the exhibition.

The militant organization warned of more attacks in the United States. This controversial exhibition was organized by US Freedom of Defense NGO. According to US media reports, there are two suspected militant, Mr. Elton Simpson, 30 years old, and Nadir Hamid Soofi , 34 years old.

They were living together in an apartment in Phoenix, Arizona. According to preliminary investigations, Simpson had plans to Somalia to take part in Jihad.

US authorities are trying to figure out whether the gunmen had any relation with IS. Few moments before the attack, Simpson tweeted: "May Allah accept us as mujahideen." The tweet also said he and his accomplice had pledged allegiance to "Amirul Mu'mineen," or "the leader of the faithful."

After the shooting, he tweeted: "Allahu Akbar!!!! 2 of our brothers just opened fire." The Twitter accounts have now been deactivated.
