SHARJAH: Islamabad United’s pacer Rumman Raees was on Tuesday ruled out of the rest of HBL Pakistan Super League after failing to recover from a knee injury.

In fact, such is the gravity of his injury that Rumman is also unlikely to play any role in the three-match Twenty20 International series against the West Indies to be played in Karachi from April 1-3.

Rumman, one of the key players in the Islamabad side, injured his right knee during the first Sharjah leg of PSL 3. He was hoping to recover in time for the PSL playoffs in Dubai and Lahore but it became evident after tests that his knee was in no shape to bear the load of fast bowling.

Rumman is the latest player to bow out of the PSL because of fitness issues.

Earlier, another Islamabad player Andre Russell, a seasoned all-rounder from the West Indies, was ruled out of the PSL after pulling his hamstring. Barbados fast bowler Jofra Archer cut also made an exit from the PSL due to a side strain. Quetta Gladiators’ Australian pacer John Hastings has also pulled out of the PSL because of a side strain.
