Angel Reese exits with leg injury in Atlanta Dream victory

Angel Reese was forced to leave the Atlanta Dream's 93-91 victory over the Chicago Sky after suffering a left leg injury early in the fourth quarter.

Reese appeared to injure herself while attempting a lay-up. After falling to the floor, Reese briefly stood up before going down again.

She returned to the bench but was later ruled out for the remainder of the game. Before the injury, Reese had struggled offensively.

She finished with eight points, five rebounds and three turnovers in 20 minutes, shooting 3-of-13 from the field and missing her only three-point attempt.

Despite Reese's exit Atlanta held on for the win after Jordin Canada scored the game-winning lay-up as time expired.

After the match Dream head coach Karl Smesko said Reese was in "great spirits celebrating with her teammates."

According to WNBA reporter Wilton Jackson, Smesko added that Reese "wanted to go out there and keep playing" but that he "didn't feel comfortable with it because she looked like she was in a lot of pain."

The victory improved Atlanta's record to 16-10. Reese entered the game averaging 15.7 points and a league-leading 11.8 rebounds per game.

The Dream do not play again until 29 July, giving the 24-year-old time to recover ahead of the remainder of the season.
