SHARJAH: After a glorious victory against Quetta Gladiators last night, Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy delighted his fans when he posted a tweet in Pushto expressing his joy over the thrilling win.
He wrote: "I played wholeheartedly today because my heart is always with Peshawar Zalmi. We will live and die together and I'll stand beside them till my last breathe".
Sammy took to the pitch injured and limped. However, he single-handedly managed to bring it home for Zalmi when he scored two smashing sixes and a four during the end of the match with two balls to spare.
"I just needed to hit three sixes, that's what I told the coach," Sammy said after winning the man-of-the-match award, adding that it's a "great feeling to make the team win".
The match had seen Gladiators stumbling a little when they couldn’t pick up pace as Zalmi had restricted them to 141 for 8.
Zalmi on the other hand was off to a good start and emerged victorious in the end as injured Sammy took to the field to score 22 runs in the last two overs.
