BEIRUT: Saad Hariri on late Tuesday returned to Lebanon amid political crisis after announcing his shock resignation as Lebanon's prime minister from Saudi Arabia.
On November 4, Saad Hariri announced his resignation as Lebanon's prime minister in a televised address from Saudi Arabia.
In his address, Hariri had blamed Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah for interfering in government affairs and decision making, adding that he feared an assassination attempt.
He is expected to meet Lebanon’s president any time soon to dispel the speculation whether he’ll resign officially or return to office.
Earlier, Hariri briefly stopped in Egypt on his way back from France to his country, meeting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who has sought to defuse the tensions.
