Waqar leaves press conference after being questioned about Sarfaraz

AUCKLAND: Pakistan coach Waqar Younis abruptly ended his post-match press conference when he was asked about wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Geo News anchor Yahya Hussaini asked the coach whether his decision to keep Sarfaraz off the field in earlier matches was in anyway due to a rumored argument between Sarfaraz and himself; the coach ended the press conference saying he didn’t have time for “stupid-questions” and ended the press conference.





At the press conference Waqar Younis said that he does not consider Sarafaz an opening batsman, he is a wicket-keeper batsman and plays 7-down; the team required an opener not a wicket-keeper.

However, Sarfaraz when given the chance performed outstandingly in Pakistan’s 29 run win over South Africa. He turned in a man of the match performance after scoring 49 runs as an opener and setting a new record by taking six catches behind the stumps.
