Out of nowhere: A look back at Sami's heroic last over against the Gladiators
DUBAI: Mohamamd Sami shocked all when he bowled Islamabad United to victory, when the opponents Quetta Gladiators required only 5 runs from the last over and had six wickets intact.
It was game, set and match for the Sarfraz Ahmed-led Quetta Gladiators. And in walked, or more appropriately ran, Mohammad Sami.
Courtesy a couple of stellar deliveries that beat the batsman completely and ended up in the hands of the wicket-keeper, Islamabad United were able to secure the victory in a nail-biting match. A run out on the fifth delivery saved a much-needed run and also added pressure on the Gladiators.
Sami bowled at good length and did not offer any loose deliveries to Anwar Ali and Rilee Rossouw. With the Gladiators needing 3 runs from the last ball and a single was all that they could manage, Islamabad United emerged the most unlikely of victors when the dust was settled on Friday.
The Twitter account of Islamabad United was filled with ecstatic posts depicting the overall joy of the team.
