102 more dengue cases surface in Karachi

KARACHI: At least 102 more dengue fever cases have been detected from Karachi in a week taking the patients toll to 1,510 in the city since 1st January 2016.

 According to report issued by Prevention and Control Program for Dengue in Sindh as many as 140 new dengue fever cases were surfaced in Sindh province from 14 to October 20, 2016 out of which 102 were detected from Karachi, 37 from Mithi, 14 each from Hyderabad and one from Umerkot.

Out of 102 cases detected in Karachi, 32 were reported from District Central, 16 from District South, six from District West, 22 from District East, 12 from District Korangi and 14 from District Malir.

In 2016 a total 1,713 dengue fever cases had been reported in Sindh province since 1st January 2016 out of which 1,510 were detected from Karachi, 68 from Hyderabad, 70 from Mithi or Tharparkar, 11 from Sukkur, seven from Ghotki, six each from Larkana, Tando Muhammad Khan, five from Khairpur, four each from Mirpurkhas, Naushero Feroz, Shikarpur, three each from Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Umerkot ,Thatta, two each from Badin, Jamshoro and Sanghar.

 Officially a total three deaths were reported from dengue fever in the province so far two from Karachi and one from Shaheed Benazirabad while a death reportedly caused by dengue fever in the city was not confirmed by health officials.
