NEW DELHI: Two weeks after the terror attack on the Uri brigade headquarters in held Kashmir, the brigade's commander has been shifted out; Indian media reported quoting defence sources on Saturday.
It is stated that the commander will stay ‘shifted out’ until an investigation - currently underway - on the attack is concluded.
Indian Army had ordered the shifting of Brigadier Uma Shanker of Uri Brigade earlier this week.
Colonel GS of Kilo Force, SP Ahlawat, who was recently promoted as Brigadier and was awaiting posting, yesterday took over as new Brigade commander of Uri brigade.
As many as 19 soldiers were killed when militants opened fire on the brigade premises on September 18.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army Chief, General Dalbir Singh is arriving in the Valley to review the border security situation in held Kashmir in the wake of rising tension along the border.
"He will receive a briefing at the Udhampur headquarters of the Northern Command," reported Indian media.
Indian forces once again resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling across the Line of Control at Chamb sector, Bhimber on Saturday morning.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the firing started at 4 a.m. and continued till 8 a.m. However, there is no report of any casualties so far.
A befitting response from Pakistan army silenced the Indian guns.
