Ben Affleck revealed he was banned from Instagram “twice” because the platform thought he was "impersonating" himself.

The Gone Girl actor revealed in a recent interview with Variety that he made his social media account on the picture-sharing application just to keep an eye on his kids and find out what they were up to online.

But unfortunately, Ben got kicked out of Instagram after he became a victim of the site's security measures.

He told the outlet, "I got banned from Instagram twice for impersonating myself."

Ben had only "six" followers, which included his kids and their friends.

The actor and filmmaker, who shares Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14 with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, shared, "It was my kids and some of their friends. It was just an excuse for me to look at [my kids’] social media accounts."

Spilling his thoughts on having a social media account as an actor, Ben noted that the audience needs to see them as a blank canvas rather than an everyday personality.

He explained, "There used to be a time when everything you said or did wasn’t on the permanent record. As you get older, you become aware of what that means.

"I experienced the whole world and had a whole life in private. I have a real sense of how valuable that is. I think Daniel Day-Lewis and Meryl Streep and Viola Davis and Denzel Washington are brilliant actors.

"It doesn’t help me appreciate their movies to see what they had for lunch. I realize I sound like an old, out-of-touch person, but I believe that as an actor you have to maintain an illusion."

He then praised his ex-wives for doing great on their social media accounts, "I’ve seen both Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner do amazing jobs cultivating and accruing value in those spaces. Don’t think that’s not real work. I couldn’t do it. What am I going to do, unbox something? ..."

However, Ben admitted he can't be one of them.

"I’d be a terrible influencer," he remarked.
