Nancy Guthrie case: Sheriff’s Department gives update on possible new ransom note

The Pima County Sheriff Department has issued an update regarding the possibility of a new ransom note related to the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie, nearly eight months after her disappearance.

Taking to X, the Sheriff’s Department released a statement, “The PCSD/ FBI Guthrie Task Force was recently made aware of a new possible ransom note related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.”

“Investigators are also aware of social media comments regarding the note and are looking further into the information to determine its credibility.”

Officials did not immediately release details on how they found the note or what was in it.

Authorities previously released two ransom notes sent to a Tucson TV station in February. The first note was sent on February 2 which claimed she was safe and demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency for her release.

A second note was sent on February 6, claiming she died shortly after being kidnapped. Officials have not confirmed her current status.

No suspects have been arrested, and crucial questions remain regarding whether she was targeted by someone she knew or how many individuals were involved.

The FBI previously released surveillance footage showing a masked person tampering with her porch camera, and her family continues to use social media to plead for public information.
